Behind The Scenes At Miniclip: Team Mobile

The newest members of the Miniclip family are Miniclip’s Team Mobile, who are based in Lisbon, the Portuguese capital. The Portuguese office opened in July 2010 and expanded so quickly that after only one year it had to move to a bigger office!

These are the guys that are responsible for making the mobile games Miniclip releases on iOS, Android, Windows 7 and other mobile devices. I had a virtual sit down with Joao, Communications Officer at Miniclip Portugal to discuss what the team have released recently, what they’ve got coming up, and what they’re excited about.

Last month you released Rail Rush on iOS and Android — how did that release go?

Rail Rush was a big hit on iOS and Android.

This was our main focus in September. Our goal was to make this our next big game and luckily it was a success! The game was released on September 13th and it was featured by Apple on the iTunes homepage, reaching #7 in the Top Paid Apps in the United States, as well as the #10 rank in 80 different countries (for overall Apps) and in 100 countries for Games.

On Google Play, Rail Rush also performed really well, hitting the 1 million downloads mark last Saturday (less than a month after the game’s release).

I heard you’ve been very busy since then, with three more releases since the start of October. Could you tell us a bit more about them?

Careful you don’t catch the plague!

Plague Inc. is one of the most successful iOS games of 2012, made by Ndemic Creations. Miniclip was in charge of porting the game to Android devices. It was released last Thursday (October 4th) and so far it has been performing very well. We hope that this will be our next big success on Android!

And what were the other releases?

We have also just released a free version of our game Rat Fishing. This is the “Blitz” version, which usually only comes with the first set of levels. [And Rat Fishing Blitz is available now on iOS!] NeoMech will be our next title which we’re publishing on iOS. It was out last Thursday.

Thank you, Joao, for taking time out of your very busy schedule organising all of these releases to share a little with the blog’s readers! Look out for all of the above games coming to an app store near you soon.
